Update 16/01/2026 Wishing everyone a Happy New Year! I still have not updated my JBL PRX One, as there are still many reports of people having issues.
These seem to be different for iOS users than for Android users.
Bluetooth issues remain, including connection loss and the need to re-pair devices, which seems more common on iOS.
However, Pre/Post Fader issues have been reported as fixed, and those settings now work as intended.
Only two units (down from four) can be paired when using TWS for the JBL EON One.
Update 28/12/2025 A firmware update for the JBL PRX ONE (v5.4.3.0) was released to improve Bluetooth and TWS playback, as well as address Pre/Post Fader issues. It also changed the delay for the limit light activation.
Performing this update will reset Bluetooth connections. I have received a few reports that there are no major problems after updating, but no significant improvements either. If your unit works fine and you don’t have Bluetooth issues, there’s no urgent need to update the app or the firmware yet. Updates for other devices are planned for January 2026.
Update 24/11/2025 I have not yet updated my JBL PRX ONE. It is working fine, even though there are some software bugs and I need to double-check that presets are completely loaded. I manually turn the EQs and Comps off and back on for the vocal channels, the main channel, and the AFS. If the main volume seems to have dropped, check your main limiter settings.
Update 25/08/2025 A new update was released to “fix bugs.” Unfortunately, many users are reporting that they lost their stored presets.
Update 01/07/2025 I have updated the software and firmware on my JBL PRX ONE. Everything seems to be working; Reverb and FX are okay. Preset memory may still be an issue, so I will have to test this further. There are some changes to how things work and the channel EQ display. I will do a separate post on the update changes and issues.
Update 31/05/2025 I have still not updated my PRX ONE, as people are still reporting issues such as no reverb on channel 4 on the output (which I use for foldback), and channel 7 only goes to 0dB when the previous max was +12dB. I must say I’m very disappointed with JBL; the PRX ONE speakers sound good, but the software leaves much to be desired. There are also still issues being reported for the EON ONE MkII.
Update 21/05/2025 EON ONE software and firmware updates were deployed on May 21st. This fixes Bluetooth volume adjustments being device-exclusive and allows for more gradual adjustment. The next update will fix pre-fader issues and TWS Bluetooth bugs. PRX ONE: Some users are experiencing the app freezing upon opening; it needs to be shut down and reopened to work.
Note: If your system is working fine, I suggest holding off on the update. Make sure auto-updates on your device are turned off.
Update 4 EON ONE MkII firmware and JBL Pro Connect software will be released May 19th. The firmware will address the EON ONE MkII Bluetooth function being device-exclusive. The software app fixes a display bug on the PRX One. Issues still pending:
- EON ONE Compact: TWS issues to be solved in the June firmware update.
- Mix out bug in pre-fader settings.
Update 3 EON ONE MkII update is still in the works and due May 16th.
Update 2 The firmware update has been deployed. The best way to update seems to be deleting the app, “forgetting” Bluetooth devices, reinstalling the app, and then performing a factory reset on the unit.
Update 1 PRX One firmware and app to be released April 30th 2025 at 9 AM PT. EON Compact update is scheduled for May 16th.
Notice to all JBL PRX One and EON Compact PA System Owners:
We strongly advise against updating to the latest firmware and companion app at this time (Jan 2026) if you’re happy with your PA system. JBL has confirmed they are actively working on solutions for 2026, but current updates are still causing significant performance issues.
Critical Issues Affecting Updated Systems:
- PRX One: Complete effects failure, preset parameter loss, and Bluetooth connectivity/volume problems.
- EON One Compact: Connection failures and Bluetooth volume inconsistencies.
- EON One MK2: Firmware initialization errors and Bluetooth volume control problems.
Immediate Recommended Actions:
- Disable automatic updates on all connected mobile devices (phones, tablets).
- Maintain your current firmware version until JBL releases a stable update.
- Avoid Bluetooth audio implementation if your performance relies on this functionality.
For Previously Updated Systems: If, like me, you already turned off auto-app updates, the JBL systems still work fine, though some may have minor issues with preset parameters. Before a gig, I manually turn the effects and EQ off and then back on for each channel I use, including the master settings. I then do the same for all anti-feedback settings and the monitor out setting used for my powered foldback wedge.
After following this process, I have no issues. While these steps help mitigate the most severe problems, they represent a temporary workaround rather than a permanent solution. These issues are not as urgent as the ones listed above and should be fixed soon. JBL assures us that comprehensive fixes for all reported issues are in development.
We’ll provide updates as soon as JBL releases a stable firmware version. For professional audio needs requiring immediate assistance, please contact your authorized JBL representative.
